Elliott From | Asheville Artist & Live Performance Painter

I’ve Built My Life Around Making Art

I’m Elliott From, a full-time artist, live performance painter, and speaker based in Asheville, North Carolina.

For more than 30 years, creativity has been at the center of my life. My career has taken me from advertising and design to creating original paintings, performing live on stages across the country, helping raise millions of dollars for charitable organizations, and opening my own working art studio and gallery in Asheville.

Through all of it, one thing has remained constant:

I just paint.

I paint because I love creating something from nothing—and because I’ve seen how art can connect people in ways words sometimes cannot.

From the Studio to the Stage

My career as a live performance painter and speed painter began with a simple idea: What if watching a painting being created could be as exciting as seeing the finished artwork?

That idea became Artbeat Live.

I began creating large-scale paintings live on stage, choreographed to music and completed in minutes. Since then, I’ve performed at events connected with the Olympic Games, NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, Kentucky Derby, major corporations, and hundreds of nonprofit organizations.

Many of those paintings have gone directly from the stage to the auction block. Over the years, my live paintings and performances have helped raise more than $5 million for charitable causes.

An Asheville Artist

After years of airports, hotels, stages, and life on the road, I wanted a place where I could simply create.

I found that place in Asheville, NC.

Today, Artbeat Gallery & Lounge is my working artist studio and gallery. It’s where I create original paintings, experiment with new ideas, meet collectors, and welcome visitors who want to experience art where it is actually being made.

This isn't a traditional, quiet art gallery. Come in. Look around. Watch me paint. Ask questions. Have a beer or glass of wine and stay awhile.

I believe art should be for everyone.

The Dazies

One of the most recognizable elements in my current artwork is a simple flower I call the Dazie.

The Dazie has become a recurring symbol throughout my paintings and an important part of my identity as an artist. Its simple shape gives me a starting point for building layers of color, movement, texture, drips, and energy.

My current focus includes large-scale original Dazie paintings designed to transform a room.

I don't want the painting to disappear into the space.

I want it to become part of the space.

The Just Paint Experience

My life as a studio artist and live performance painter comes together through The Just Paint Experience—part keynote, part storytelling, and part live painting.

I share my journey as a working artist: the successes, uncertainty, setbacks, rebuilding after COVID, and what I've learned from a lifetime of creating without always knowing exactly how things will turn out.

The idea is simple:

You don't always have to know where you're going before you begin. Sometimes you just have to make the first mark.

Why I Still Paint

After all these years, I'm still fascinated by a blank canvas.

I’m not trying to create something perfect. I want my paintings to feel alive—color, movement, energy, imperfection, and joy.

Whether I'm standing in front of a five-foot canvas in my Asheville studio or painting live in front of hundreds of people, I'm still chasing the same moment: when a blank surface suddenly becomes something that didn't exist before.

Come See What I'm Working On

If you're visiting Asheville, come experience Artbeat Gallery & Lounge and see where my paintings are created.

Explore my original artwork and large-scale Dazie paintings, discover Artbeat Live for corporate events and charity fundraisers, or learn more about The Just Paint Experience for conferences and organizations.

There are a lot of different pieces to my career.

But they all begin in exactly the same place:

A blank canvas, some paint, and the willingness to start.
